Are Companies being Successful in Integrating Social Media into their Business Processes?Social media is hot, and people are jumping on it left and right to get their companies involved, but many are finding that it can be very difficult to get more mainstream/traditional companies to integrate social media.

According to a survey performed by InSites Consulting, they documented the integration of social media into their businesses.

Social Media is just starting for businesses...

For the US companies, only 16% were fully integrated with social media. A little over a quarter (27%) are currently integrating social media into their companies. 23% are performing first steps, 20% are running a pilot to evaluate, and a surprising 14% do nothing with social media.

Social Media To Grow in 2012

If you feel like businesses left and right are already embracing social media, the numbers above tell you its only beginning... so what does that mean?

Will this make companies more social and more consumer oriented and friendly? Or will an ever-increasing emphasis of social media by companies and businesses cause a backlash on the top social media sites now?

What do you think?

Where is your company currently when it comes to social media integration?  How do you think businesses will handle social media in 2012?
