An important part of defining a long term web strategy, a competitive analysis provides details for assisting with setting and achieving your long term goals.

Identifying Website Strengths and Weaknesses
A competitor analysis identifies both what you and your main competitor's websites strengths and weaknesses are, allowing you to take these factors into consideration when determining your approach to promoting and steering your site towards obtaining a stronger online presence and increasing your visitor and lead statistics.
A competitive analysis also assists companies with understand other methods of promoting their product and services they may not have originally thought to consider.
What kind of tests do we perform?
Orbital Alliance utilizes a series of performance/optimization tests with our validation and SEO Power Suite software tools. We perform the following:
- High Level Website Analysis - We first run a high level test to determine the overall status of your website, checking high level SEO problems, social popularity, traffic reports, etc. We use this only as a high level baseline, and will revisit this report on a monthly basis to see how the level of the website improves as we move forward with our client.
- W3C HTML, CSS Validation and Structure Analysis - We will run reports to document any and all html and css warnings and errors on our client's current website. It is important that the website follow HTML/CSS standards. We will identify areas of your site's structure and architecture that can potentially be holding your back. A well designed website drives more traffic than others.
- Keyword Analysis - In order to move forward, you must understand what is currently working. We will run reports based off the 3 major search engines, Google, Yahoo, Bing, to determine what exact words people type in search engines to find your website. We will identify keywords with the biggest potential to increase your ROI. We will provide keyword suggestions that will add value to your site based off your current setup. We also will analyze your competitor's keywords, providing details on frequently searched keywords that they are the weakest.
- Content Auditing - We will review your current content on your site and run reports to determine exactly how to position and arrange keywords on your website to maximize and optimize your ability to appear on search engines.
- Inbound/Outbound Link Analysis - High quality links referring to your website will help with how search engines rank you. We will identify and target partner that would be ideal to link with, and research and identify your competitor's link strategy.
Next Steps
Once the web strategy plan has been approved, we will begin working on establishing the foundation for all efforts, focusing primarily on the corporate website and building the other necessary web infrastructure to perform ongoing online marketing initiatives.
